Norma has been involved in dance and fitness for most of her life. Born and raised in England, she attended Arts Educational School in London focusing on ballet and jazz dance. She worked as a professional dancer for 7 years in various locations including London's West End. Prior to moving to Los Gatos in 2001 Norma spent 7 years working in the fitness industry. Her first experience with Pilates was during rehabilitation of a back injury. Further exploration led to a deeper appreciation of the method and inspired her to become a certified instructor through the Polestar Education Program in 2009. Norma's teaching style is to evaluate and select exercises to enhance optimum movement patterns for functional fitness and health. She also received her PMA (Pilates Method Alliance) certification in 2010. In addition to Pilates, Norma runs to maintain cardio fitness. She has completed many half marathons but rather than challenge herself with a full marathon she is now exploring triathlons. The other big challenge in her life is her dog Toby, a rescue beagle with a loud bark and a wander lust!
Kathryn is a professional ballet dancer with certification in Pilates from Physical Mind Institute. She has been teaching Pilates for almost 10 years and is well known for her ability to help clients become stronger than they ever thought possible. Kathryn’s focus on flexibility, alignment, and strength will help improve your posture as well as your waistline. She continues to be active in the performing arts and recently appeared in West Side Story with Stage 1 Theatre in Newark. She is also a certified yoga instructor and can sometimes be spotted in Santa Cruz with her boogie board. Kathryn lives with her rescue kitty, Rooty.
Melissa’s interest in health and fitness began in college. She graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with a BS degree in Nutrition Science and was interested in finding a lifelong solution to fitness for herself and to share with others. This led to studying Pilates where she gained a deeper understanding of the method after completing the Pilates Comprehensive Program through Polestar Pilates. The extensive Polestar training focuses on assessing each client to build a Pilates exercise program based on individual goals and needs. Melissa enjoys Pilates because of the lengthening movements that improve balance, flexibility, strength and posture and loves how good her clients feel after a Pilates workout. Her two teenage children keep her busy at home, where she enjoys spending time with her family, long walks with her dog, traveling, and trips to the beach.
Tammi Rose brings 10 years of Pilates teaching experience to Premier Pilates. A Polestar Certified Pilates Instructor with extensive Stott Pilates training, Tammi is thrilled to be part of the Premier team. Tammi’s education and experience enable her to work with all populations, from the elderly to the athlete, bringing functional fitness to clients individually and in groups. Tammi discovered Pilates as she searched for a cross training option to enhance her running performance. A marathon runner, she is able to modify and individualize exercises to help all clients improve balance, coordination and develop core strength. Tammi approaches each of her clients with mindful attention, helping them feel nurtured and empowered. Tammi's passions include her family, her dear dog, Mikey, and her long Sunday runs!
Meredith Aston’s passion for Pilates began over 10 years ago after the birth of her second daughter. She has seen and experienced the therapeutic effects Pilates has on the body. Wanting a deeper understanding of the work led Meredith to study with Rael Isacowicz of Body Arts and Science International (BASI), where she obtained her Pilates certification. Meredith enjoys working with all types of people, from athletes interested in improving performance, to the injured trying to rehab, to anyone wanting to build core strength and flexibility. Meredith is most interested in the therapeutic and postural applications of the work and strives to tailor her sessions to the client’s specific needs. In her free time, she enjoys traveling with her family, running, skiing, and recently got back on a surf board.
Erin grew up in Los Gatos spending her youth dancing downtown at what was then called Paul Curtis Los Gatos Academy of Dance. Many (many) years later, after sending the last of her seven children off to grade school, Erin discovered Pilates, and through it began to work her way back to the vitality, strength and mobility she once had as a dancer. All was not lost!
Erin is certified in Pilates by Balanced Body University. She has taught pre-ballet for children at Courtside and in Scotts Valley. She also has a Level 1 certification in Qi Gong. She enjoys trail walking and yoga, and much of her time still centers around family and grandchildren. Important to her teaching and life philosophy is the message that it’s never too late to start something new. Whether once an athlete, or having little or no experience in physical training, there is no judgment. Everyone can improve. She finds herself particularly excited for the person who may be taking their first steps towards physical training, even while they may be busy caring for others. Just begin. She is excited to be part of the team at Premier Pilates where she is currently teaching the Prenatal Class.
